What is a Virtual Private Server (VPS)?

A Virtual Private Server is a server divided into fully separate hosting environments. When you have VPS hosting, one of those environments is completely dedicated to you. That means you don't have to share resources (such as RAM or CPU) with other customers and you're less likely to be impacted by their behavior.

Does my hosting choice depend on my computer's os (mac, windows, linux)?

You may be relieved to learn that It actually doesn't matter what your computer's operating system is. You can use our hosting whether your computer's operating system is Windows, Linux, Mac or another option. Your hosting account's operating system is NOT dependent on your computer's operating system.

I've never hosted a site or used TigerHosting. how do i get started?

One of the reasons that we're confident you'll have an easy time hosting your site with us is because your TigerHosting account includes a user-friendly control panel. Your control panel provides you with all the tools you'll need to manage your software, websites, email, databases and more. You'll receive an email providing you with login details explaining how to access your control panel. If you sign up for a Linux Hosting account, you'll receive access to the cPanel control panel and if you choose one of our Windows web hosting services, you will receive access to the Plesk control panel. Both of these control panels are graphical and extremely intuitive!

Ordering a web hosting package

To order a web hosting package from TigerHosting, follow these steps:

1. In your web browser, go to https://tigerhoster.ca/.
2. On the top banner, click SHARED HOSTING.
3. Click GET STARTED, or select the package that you want.
4. Select a domain option:
- To register a new domain name with TigerHosting, click Register a new domain.
- To transfer your domain from another registrar, click Transfer your domain from another registrar.
- To use an existing domain name that you already own, click I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers.
- To use a free subdomain provided by TigerHosting, click Use a subdomain from TigerHosting.
5. Click Continue. The Configure page appears.
6. In the Choose Billing Cycle list box, select the billing cycle that you want.
7. Under Configurable Options, select any additional features that you want for your web hosting account:
- To add a dedicated IP address, select the Dedicated IP check box.
- To change the storage type or server location for your hosting package, select the option that you want under Server Options.
- To add an SSL certificate to your hosting package, select the certificate that you want.
8. To automatically install an application for your new account, select the program you want to install in the Auto-Install Application list box. Otherwise, leave the Auto-Install Application list box set to None.
9. Click Continue. The Review & Checkout page appears.
10. Click Checkout. The Checkout page appears.
11. Under Payment Details, select the payment method that you want to use.
12. Select the I have read and agree to the Terms of Service check box.
13. Click Complete Order. After the order is processed, you receive an e-mail message from TigerHosting that contains further instructions about how to set up and access your new account.

How to order an unmanaged VPS

To order an unmanaged VPS from TigerHosting, follow these steps:

1. In your web browser, go to https://tigerhoster.ca/.
2. On the top banner, click VPS HOSTING, and then click UNMANAGED VPS.
3. Select the package that you want.
4. Select a domain option:
- To register a new domain name with TigerHosting, click Register a new domain.
- To transfer your domain from another registrar, click Transfer your domain from another registrar.
- To use an existing domain name that you already own, click I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers.
5. Click Continue.
6. On the Configure page, in the Choose Billing Cycle list box, select the billing cycle that you want.
7. Under Upgrade Your Hosting, you can choose to upgrade your plan to a Turbo server.
8. Select the configurations that you want:
- In the Server Options list box, select the storage type and server location for the VPS.
- In the Operating System list box, select the operating system that you want to install on the VPS.
- In the optional Control Panel list box, select the control panel that you want to install on the VPS.
- In the Number of IPs list box, select the number of additional IPs for the VPS.
9. Click Continue.
10. The Domains Configuration page appears. Review your domain name selection, and select any add-ons that you want, such as DNS Management, ID Protection, and Email Forwarding.
11. Click Continue. The Review & Checkout page appears.
12. Click Checkout. The Checkout page appears.
13. Under Payment Details, select the payment method that you want to use
. 14. Select the I have read and agree to the Terms of Service check box.

How to order a managed VPS

To order a managed VPS from TigerHosting, follow these steps:

1. In your web browser, go to https://tigerhoster.ca/.
2. On the top banner, click VPS HOSTING, and then click MANAGED VPS.
3. Click GET STARTED, or select the package that you want.
4. Select a domain option:
- To register a new domain name with TigerHosting, click Register a new domain.
- To transfer your domain from another registrar, click Transfer your domain from another registrar.
- To use an existing domain name that you already own, click I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers.
5. Click Continue. The Configure page appears.
6. In the Choose Billing Cycle list box, select the billing cycle that you want.
7. Under Upgrade Your Hosting, you can choose to upgrade your plan to a Turbo server.
- In the cPanel Account Limit list box, select the account limit best for you.
- In the Server Options list box, select the storage type and server location for the VPS.
- In the Number of IPs list box, select the number of additional IPs for the VPS.
8. Access Level allows you to select what level of access you would like and gives you the option to select root access (however, this is not recommended.)
9. In the Operating System list box, select the operating system that you want to install on the VPS.
10. Under SSL Certificates select the SSL certificate option that works best for your needs.
11. Under Additional Options, in the cPanel Username text box, type a username. You will use this username to log in to cPanel.
12. In the cPanel Password text box, type a password for the cPanel user. You will use this password to log in to cPanel.
13. In the Auto-Install Application list box, you can select an application for automatic installation on the VPS. Otherwise, leave the Auto-Install Application list box set to None.
14. Click Continue. The Review & Checkout page appears.
15. Click Checkout. The Checkout page appears.
16. Under Payment Details, select the payment method that you want to use.
17. Select the I have read and agree to the Terms of Service check box.
18. Click Complete Order. After the order is processed, you receive an e-mail message from TigerHosting that contains further instructions about how to set up and access your new VPS.

How to order an unmanaged Dedicated Server

To order an unmanaged Dedicated Server from TigerHosting, follow these steps:

2. On the top banner, click DEDICATED HOSTING, and then click UNMANAGED SERVERS.
3. Select the package that you want.
4. Select a domain option:
- To register a new domain name with TigerHosting, click Register a new domain.
- To transfer your domain from another registrar, click Transfer your domain from another registrar.
- To use an existing domain name that you already own, click I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers.
5. Click Continue. The Configure page appears.
6. In the Billing Cycle list box, select the billing cycle that you want.
7. Under Configure Server, fill out the root password you would like to use.
8. Under Customize Your Hosting, you can select the following options for your server:
- RAM Options
- Use Webuzo
- Operating System
- Secondary Drives
- Local Backup Drives
- Extra IP Address
9. If you have opted to use Webuzo, the Additional Options section will prompt you to choose a username and password for Webuzo.
10. Click Continue.
11. The Domains Configuration page appears. Review your domain name selection, and select any add-ons that you want, such as DNS Management, ID Protection, and Email Forwarding.
12. Click Continue. The Review & Checkout page appears.
13. Click Checkout. The Checkout page appears.
14. Under Payment Details, select the payment method that you want to use.

5. In the text box, type the domain name that you want to use.
6. Click Continue. The Configure page appears.
7. In the Choose Billing Cycle list box, select the billing cycle that you want.
8. Under Customize Your Hosting, there are many configurable options depending on the server type and location. Customize your order with the options that are right for you.
- Access Level
- Turbo Boost
- RAM Options
- Secondary Drives
- Local Backup Drives
- SSL Certificates
- TigerHosting Cloud Backup
- cPanel + WHM

9. Under Additional Options, in the cPanel Username text box, type a username. You will use this username to log in to cPanel.
